Shellsburg Big Day, Saturday, July 17
Shellsburg will hold their Big Day Celebration on Saturday, July 17 from 8:00 am - 11:00 pm.There will be the following events: Parade, Pie Baking Contest (Contact: Eric Kolsrud 319.521.7418), Beer Tent Fireworks, Bands, and many other attractions!The City of Shellsburg 2021 Big Day Committee invites you to participate in a day of celebration of our City.
VPRD Farmers Market at Celebration Park tonight 5-7:00 p.m.
Running until September 9th, every Thursday evening, there will be a Vinton Parks and Rec Department Farmers Market. Each Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. vendors meet at Celebration Park to share their wares with the community. There will be hot food each week provided by Merchant's Grilling or the Vinton Lion's Club.The Farmers Market will be held each week rain or shine. Early Arts Study Club News
Early Arts Study Club will meet July 19th, at 1:30, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Karen Inman as hostess. Kathie Ervin will present the lesson on Hats.
Garrison's 13th Fun Day hosted car show and activities for all ages
Several folks made their way to Garrison on Saturday for the annual Garrison Fun Day. The event is held each year as part of the annual fundraiser for the Garrison Emergency Services Foundation. The annual activities are Hosted by the Garrison Fire Department, Garrison First Responders, and the Garrison Fire Auxiliary. Come join us for the Annual "Bring the Noise 5K" brought to you by Vinton Noon Kiwanis.We will have a 5K Race & A 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. Back in person this year we are lacing up our shoes on August 28.
George G. Luckey Post to hold Tenderloin Dinner July 22
The Vinton American Legion will be holding a Tenderloin Dinner on Thursday, July 22nd from 5.00 to 7:00 pm ( For those with allergy concerns, the tenderloins are fried in peanut oil.)The 8 oz Tenderloin is served on a bun with French Fries on the side and a Dessert for $10.00.The George G. Garrison Fun Day July 10
Garrison Fun Day is an annual fundraiser for the Garrison Emergency Services Foundation. The event is hosted by Garrison Fire Dept, Garrison First Responders and the Garrison Fire Auxiliary. In conjunction with our 13th annual Show & Shine Car show we have added a craft show to this year's events for a Cars & Crafts Street Fair. Learn About Tree Care & Help Your Community!Nature lovers are needed to help maintain and plant trees throughout Iowa and Illinois; volunteers can sign up now for virtual training through Trees Forever's TreeKeepers classes. The course is designed for people who want to become more knowledgeable about urban tree planting and care and will empower attendees to become effective environmental volunteers.
Space is still available for July 31 Craft Show & Vendor Fair
There is still time for vendors to reserve space in the upcoming Craft Show and Vendor Fair in Mount Auburn later this month. But those interested should hurry as time is running out. VFW Post 8884 Welcoming the New VFW Department of Iowa Auxiliary President
A homecoming celebration will be held at the VFW Post 8884 on July 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.The event will be in honor of the new VFW Department of Iowa Auxiliary President, Jeanette Henry who also serves as the local Auxiliary President for the local VFW 8884/A meal will be served at 11:00 a.m. for a free will offering. Everyone is welcome to stop out to meet and congratulate Henry and to tour the Post which is located at 5999 25th Avenue Trail, Vinton.
